BLUE mountains eye study (BMES) The Blue Mountains Eye Study (BMES) which began in 1992, is a longitudinal study of visual impairment and common eye diseases of older Australians. The project was conducted in an area that included Katoomba, Leura, Medlow Bath and Wentworth Falls . The demographics of this area is similar to the overall Australian population of this age, making it an ideal location for this study. DYNOPTA Chief Investigator:
